EWELL HERITAGE TRAIL
INTRODUCTION

In 2005, the Ewell Rotary Club marked its 50th anniversary (and the Centenary of the parent Rotary International) by devising, in collaboration with Bourne Hall Museum, a heritage trail around the Village.

With some appropriate updating and expansion – plus the addition of many clickable links to relevant pages on this website – the guide to the trail is repeated in the following pages.
NOTE: Paper copies are now out of print, but this link will take you to PDF of the original material that has been reformatted for easier viewing on screen – as well as making sense if printed on A4 paper. (The actual original – available at this second link – was designed to be printed on double-sided A3 paper and then folded in half and then in three to make a pocket-sized leaflet. Part of it is thus upside down when viewed on screen.)
The trail is in three sections. The first and third can form a continuous short walk round the centre of the Village that should take about an hour to complete. The middle section is a long loop to the west, out to Ewell Court, which itself should take about 90 minutes to complete. (This middle section begins at the end of the first, and ends at the start of the third.)
At six points on the trail – marked (A) to (F) – are storyboards (the texts of which are repeated at relevant points in the following pages) giving some facts about the location plus a map of the Trail showing where you are on it. Other principal points, which carry one of the Borough’s memorial plaques, are numbered (1) to (15) on the map above.
