Born c.1842 Sevenoaks, Kent. Married 1876 Eliza Chaplin (c. 1846-1929). Children – Eliza (1879-1974, married Matthew Frederick Carwardine Sarah Cordelia (1882-1972, married hairdresser Heckstall Sidney Thomas, who was assisting Richard in the business in 1911), Annie (born c.1890). The family lived in Hove for many years and seem to have moved to Ewell between 1901 and 1911. Richard died in 1929, having returned to the Brighton & Hove area. |
