| Details of 1911 Proprietor | Born Charlotte Bennett in Brixton c.1844. Married 1883 Edmund Cushion (stationer, died 1898, then living East Dulwich). Edmund was a widower with several children when he married Charlotte. They had one child together – Margaret Daisy (born c.1887), who was living with her mother in 1911. Margaret died unmarried in 1960 in Colchester. Charlotte carried on her business in Ewell until she died in 1919. She had been a milliner before her marriage, and her mother was also a draper. |
| Details of building, where known | This was once part of a terrace of 5 cottages (43-51), built in the 19thC, which used to have front gardens separated by posts and chains. The shop fronts were added in the 20thC, but it seems that in the 19thC small businesses were carried on in front rooms.
