War Memorials – Glyn School

Glyn School was established as Epsom County School for Boys in 1927, housed in the Technical Institute in Church Street, Epsom. It moved to the present site in Kingsway Ewell in February 1939 but, confusingly, retained the name Epsom County School for Boys for some years thereafter.

In the quadrangle of the present school is a memorial to 32 Old Boys who lost their lives in the Second World War – with the later addition of old boy Major Paul Harding who was killed by a mortar in Iraq on 20 June 2007.

All those named obviously had some local connection at the time they were at the School but, by the time of WW2, some had moved away.  However, those marked with a red circle above remained in the Borough, and clicking on their names will lead to more details of the individuals.
