Ancient Epsom

Reginald White was born on 28 November 1862 in Bloomsbury, his father was local solicitor George White and his mother Jane (nee Dorling).   Reginald was an Architect, Army officer and local historian who lived with his mother until her death (latterly in Links Road).  He died 17 February 1953 (90 yrs).

His interest in local history lead him to write a book he called Ancient Epsom,  The Common Fields and Ancient Roads.  While this book, which was published in 1928, is a good general introduction to the subject it should not be considered authoritative as new information has surfaced which alters his interpretation of facts and casts doubt on some of the assumptions he used .
