Epsom College’s chapel of St Luke contains various memorials to “Old Epsomians” who were casualties of:
• The South African “Boer” Wars, 1899-1902;
• The “Great War” (WW1), 1914-18; and

The College’s general memorial pictured at the head of this page was unveiled in November 2018 – marking the centenary of the armistice that ended the carnage of WW1. It commemorates all the Old Epsomians and staff of the College who fought or gave their lives in service – in not only the wars mentioned above but also all subsequent (and future) conflicts.
The statue is of an unnamed soldier – clothed in standard uniform so as to be timeless – standing at ease with head lowered in the act of remembrance. Sculpted by Marcus Cornish, an established figurative sculptor, it is in buff-colour ceramic stoneware and mounted on a red brick plinth with stone cap, matching the brick and stonework of St Luke’s Chapel outside which it stands. An inset stone bears the inscription, “WE WILL REMEMBER THEM”.
