Following Roman Stane Street
on foot through Epsom and Ewell

A reconstruction of what Stane Street in Ewell may have looked like in Roman times. 
(Across the road from its drainage ditch is a hearth in use for cooking alongside
a thatched building – traces of both have been located. In the middle distance,
to the right of the road,  are the Ewell Springs. On the skyline far right are Epsom Downs.)
