| Occupier in 1911 | Home & Colonial GroceriesThere was a time when most towns had one of these. Like other grocery chains from long ago, Home and Colonial began with selling tea and branched out into groceries. It all began in 1883 with one shop in the Edgware Road, London, established by Julius Drewe and John Musker. By 1903 there were 500 shops and, following several mergers, by 1931 there were over 3000. There were more acquisitions and mergers and the Home and Colonial brand eventually disappeared off the high street to become part of the Safeway chain and, today, Morrisons. |

Mr Reynolds described himself as an upholder’s assistant (sic), so this did not seem to be his own business. Born 1880 Sutton; married 1906 Daisy Elizabeth Dove 1883-1940, then married 1941 Lily Ellen Carter/Ebbutt (c.1891-1982). Children – Joan Elizabeth 1908 Cheam, Austin Richard Wrapson 1911-92, married Irene F Wilkins. Died 27 July 1958, then living South Croydon. |
