Details of 1911 Proprietors Arthur Charles Edwards

Bootmaker Arthur Charles Edwards was born on 24 February 1868 in Camberwell. He married Gertrude Mary Roberts on 15 February 1891. The 1901, 1911, and 1921 censuses records them as living with their children, William Charles and Edith Maud, at 203 St John’s Hill, Battersea. By 1939, Arthur, his wife and daughter were living at 43 Green Lanes, Ewell.

George Henry Marshall

Born c.1865 Walthamstow; married Alice (c.1879-?).

Children – Constance Amelia (1904 Ilford-1983), married William Harold Brazenor; John c.1906 Epsom; Lilian Alice Maud (1909 Epsom), married William Hasted Green.

Later became an outfitter in Mortlake. Died 12 February 1951, then living East Sheen.

As you see from the lack of information above, this pair were fairly elusive in censuses and official records. However, they had vacated these premises by 1912 and the shop was taken over by bootmaker Percy James Jones.
