| Details of 1911 Proprietors | Mrs Scrutton was born 1859 Tunstall, Suffolk.
Child – Catherine Winifred Mary (born c1881 Tunstall), assisting in business. ‘Mrs Scrutton’ was not married. Catherine Scrutton married Canadian William Charles Babcock in Epsom district in 1919 and there was a son, William John Babcock, born 1919 Eastbourne district, died 2001. In 1922 the whole family, including Jane, went to live in Jefferson County, New York State. Jane died in Jefferson County in 1934, the inscription on her gravestone reading ‘mother of Catherine’. Catherine had died the previous year. Mr Hicks was born 1882 Epsom; married c.1910 Lily Gertrude Beach (c.1887 Bruges-1963); their son, Pilot Officer Archibald Jack Hicks, 114 Squadron RAFVR (born 1920), died on 3 August 1942 in Chester district – he is buried in Epsom Cemetery and commemorated on the St Martin’s War Memorial. Died 23 August 1948, then of 21a High Street.
