Children – Stanley Owen (1902 Tottenham – 1974), married Gertrude Annie Smith and Joyce H Schween; Charles Alfred (1907 Epsom-1908); Edith (1909 Epsom – 1971?).

Mr Beer’s father, Charles Albert, a cork cutter by trade, was in Exeter Prison in 1881, but, unfortunately for him, was released before 5 September 1887, when the Theatre Royal in Exeter was destroyed by fire. 186 people died in the tragedy, caused by a naked gas flame igniting curtains, Mr Beer Senior being one of the victims. The theatre had been built the previous year to replace its predecessor, which had burnt down in 1885 (there were no fatalities on the first occasion). After this catastrophe proper fire regulations were brought in for theatres.
